Daytime Longwave Beacons 2100 UTC 7 Jun 2015
« on: June 07, 2015, 2138 UTC »
Listening to long wave beacons in the daytime? In summer? Sheer madness.

Here's what I heard between 2100 and 2130 UTC today. I used my 200 ft long beverage designed for 43 meters, which is hardly a beverage on long wave. Let's just call it a terminated random wire antenna:

204 MD  Harrisburg, PA
209 SYS Somerset - Stoystown, PA
216 CLB Wilmington - Carolina Beach, NC
219 CX   Harrisburg - Capital City, PA
223 DAA Fort Belvoir, MD
237 EZF Fredericksburg, VA
317 CBE Cumberland, MD
323 GTN Washington, DC
328 BZJ Indiantown Gap - Bellgrove, PA
332 DC Washington, DC
349 APG Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD
351 MSQ Culpeper - Stevensburg, VA
363 RNB Millville - Rainbow, NJ

Nothing amazing, as you'd expect. But there were a few stations to hear. Wilmington, NC was by far the furthest catch.
