5.990 is very active (AM) what sounds like CUBA in the background (radio martini/havanna) a woman saying numbers in spanish, heard very loudly here in Fort Walton, FL and various receivers throughout the country.

This is V2 or V2a almost certainly - she's a great introduction to spynumbers if you're not already familiar.

Stop by the companion site to HFUnderground, http://www.spynumbers.com - this is a pretty good primer on Numbers Stations in general and there's an ongoing database there of loggings and regular frequencies.

Also the Numbers and Oddities mailing lists track these stations and trends in their appearances and schedules: http://home.luna.nl/~ary/

PS: You might already be aware of these, but I thought it would be a good opportunity to throw some more links out here...

I've been hearing a lot of MCW down there, often when Radio Havana is on 6000.

The MCW has been centred on 5898 and is sometimes accompanied by one on 5808 that's very rough and broad... last time I heard it, it spanned 5785 to 5825.

Peace!
