The Sony ICF-2010 was an extremely popular portable shortwave receiver manufactured from the early 80's to about 2004. It is highly regarded for its sync detector, a feature normally reserved for extremely expensive communications receivers.

The ICF-2010 is readily found on the used market (e.g. eBay) and makes an excellent radio for new listeners and DXers alike.
