electronics have 4096khz clocks in them to devide down to 1khz.
I know the router in our house puts out ticking noises at 4096.

From WIKI page on crystal oscillators..
4.096000 Allows binary division to 1 kHz (212 × 1 kHz)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_oscillator

It is a popular frequency used in modems and sometimes routers. I know I have a few
that I parted from circuit boards in the popular 4 pin packages used in computer electronics.
Also other frequencies used in computer electronics are known to devide down to 4096.
That wiki page has some interesting info on it :)

Odd.... I have four modems and a router for parting and all use an 8MHz crystal ???
