Loggings > North American Shortwave Pirate
Stern Radio 6950 AM 1842 UTC 4 MAY 2026
Brixx:
Music S9 10K wide
73MJNKY:
1845 -- Shouldn't there be some sort of gentleman's agreement about consuming that much bandwidth on an already narrow allocation for pirates? Especially as the average receiver is filtering up to a maximum of 12kHz AM. Definitely diminishing returns for being that wide on 40 unless willful jamming is the ulterior motive.
1856 -- I am quite serious. I suspect many would-be pirates on 40 are regularly forced to to wait for that 14kHz spread to vanish before broadcasting, especially as many park from 6925 to ~6960 with 6940 largely unusable due to a utility. So to consume 14kHz on a tiny band historically associated with pirates is not very neighborly.
