ISS SSTV broadcast campaign coming up

MDK2:
Currently planned to begin 12/26 at approx. 1825 UTC and run until 12/31 1705 UTC. As usual it will transmit one way from 145.800 MHz in narrow FM, and most likely use the PD 120 SSTV format.

Thinking about it, since ISS has been doing SSTV all week, thus far, with every pass. And, with S+10/9 signal to boot. The must be using high power on that Kenwood TM-D710SG.

I don't know what power they use, honestly. But the signal on their SSTV is always good. Maybe it's 100 W. They shouldn't need a whole lot since it's line of sight propagation, but I've been able to detect a signal even when it's technically too low to be making a predicted pass - last week I heard it while the map at heavens-above.com showed it to be over the Florida panhandle, about 2,000 km as the crow flies. Even with line of sight it probably needs some power to make it that far.
