FRN.NET/ACE ? Or is this proprietary "Pirate Only" insider information?

According to what I've heard Nella, the people that provided the FRN webspace for all those years decided not to "renew their lease" for reasons unknown. About six months ago Cosmikdebris graciously recreated the forum in its present format. Adoption by the masses has been slow, but is building. Some of the old guard is posting there regularly and I check in daily myself. Its nice to see it back.

To further expand on what the others have contributed...
The original frn.net was started as a BBS [bulletin board system], then was turned into the frn.net by John Cruzan, who ran the BBS.
As time went on the software it was running on became outdated and unreliable and John didn't seem to have an interest to keep it going.
Regarding the ACE [The Association of Clandestine radio Enthusiasts], it was actually a club which published a monthly bulletin with editors and columns.
Eventually, membership declined to a point where it was not feasible to continue publishing and it ceased as a club, but the ACE section on the FRN.net
was never updated to reflect this.
Anyway, Nella, I hope this helps answer some of your question...

The "frn.net" domain name expires in a couple of months. It will be interesting to see what happens to it.
