RETRO RECEIVER REVIEW #11 - The NATIONAL RF-5000
This time, Craig Seager explores the upmarket RF-5000. This is an 11-band set, including 8 x shortwave, longwave, mediumwave and FM, originally released around 1969/1970.

Nice write-up. I own two (RF5000A versions), one for parts, and one that is near mint I purchased off the original owner 25+ years ago. After a good contact cleaning and alignment, the radio has done me no wrong. I still drag it with me on my trips into northern MI or outside of MI. I love the sound and sensitivity especially in RF quiet areas, it is quite good on the MW bands. But as the article states, it gets overloaded easily, especially near high power FM stations, images abound in the upper portions of the SW bands within 5 miles of medium to high power FM transmitters. BCB transmitters do not seem to create an issue, though I've never been closer than 4 miles to one with this set.
