I wonder if Miraflores Panama is gone for good?
-
It was hit or miss up here, you seemed to get it somewhat more reliably. I guess we'll find out this fall/winter.
-
Yes, it was a regular here.
Looks like I had it as recently as Aug 6-7: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,70224.0.html
Hmm... Looking through some random nights, while there's a few cases where I got both Miraflores and Gatun, many nights I got one or the other. I wonder if they mostly just run one station and not both?
Also weird, on nights when I did get both, I often got a lot more of one than the other. Like 5,000 or whatever from one and 50 from the other. That seems weird.
Fox Island is on 307 with Gatun, but there's no other NAm stations on 302 with Miraflores. So if is a QRM issue then Miraflores seems the more likely to be heard. Unless there's one of those NDB jammers on 302?
-
That behavior does seem weird, but don't know what power/antenna they have or even the condition of the whole site. Perhaps they only run them when ships may be coming through? Would be bizarre if sometimes Miraflores would come in strong while Gatun didn't, and then vice versa.
I don't think Panama has status web page on those things, and not sure who down there to even ask.

Panama may not even know they run DGPS stations.

Perhaps that's it... the two stations are doing their own thing.
