Allman Brothers:
Tied to the Whipping Post.
Heavy static and very difficult copy.
Better heard in SSB because of static and local storms.

0231 Weak copy but music clearly copyable at the noise floor, some peaks above it. (It's sunset here, hopefully this will gain strength shortly).
-
Just turned it on a moment ago, at 0233 UTC. Too noisy to listen to in AM, so I have it in USB mode and can hear the music weakly but clearly above the noise on fade-in peaks.
0243 UTC: Not hearing it anymore at all.
0252 UTC: Music's now fading back in at times.

0303 UTC - I have it pushing +20 at times in Flint, MI. Listening on Grundig Sat800ME, on the whip and batteries out on the deck. My luck with pirates was at a null point up until this past 3 weeks. I've logged around 5 of them now!
Audio sounds pretty clear, a bit lacking on bass, but sounds very dynamic. A pretty amazing signal, I've got to admit!
Hearing what sounds like maybe Janis Joplin. A folk/blues tune at any rate.
0307 - Someone's playing with the mixer/preamp!
0307 - into a guitar solo sounds like "Free Bird".
0311 - carrier drops.

I was listening on the HFU Kiwi and in the chat and suggested Joan Jett - Star Star and Roadrunner (USA) and the op played them. Thanks alot Man! 8)

You should have asked for "Cherry Bomb" from her Runaways days, one of the first Punk Rock anthems, circa 1975/76. Nothing like underage girls in lingerie playing kick-ass rock n' roll.
Kim Fowley, their manager, would be locked up for kiddie porn these days for that act.
-
heard from 0115 on the SDR recording, mostly an SIO 444
-
Pigmeat, I even like the dance mix version of Cherry Bomb. I think she did that to draw the music noobs to her other stuff. If I ever get a station up I'm going to do an All Joan Jett Show.

That was part of the reason the band blew up, they had the misfortune to come around about a year after the New York Dolls and Patti Smith were getting raves by the music press. The Runaways weren't taken seriously, they were seen as another one of Kim Fowley's gimmick acts and Kim didn't want them breaking out of that jailbait mold. It was bound to happen when they hit their mid-20's after all that hard living, but he wanted to milk the act until it was dry.
It was hard to take them seriously if you went to one of their shows in the days of festival seating. Nothing up front but a mass of teenage boys masturbating to Cherie's bump n' grind act. There are a lot of guys in their late 50's/early '60's who are damn glad mobile phones with cameras didn't exist then. I don't envy the folks who had to clean up the arena's.

Ew.

1:38 on that video really proves Pigmeat's point.

I enjoyed the comments. Some wag responded to a post about her panties with, "What makes you think she's wearing panties?". That had to come from a man who was around in the mid-70's.
I also liked the guy who tossed his tighty-whitey's on stage just after the set began. Cherie picked 'em up and threw them back at him.
