Title: Local WRCR moved from 1300 kHz to 1700 kHz

Here in Rockland County New York, north of the city, our local AM station WRCR which has historically broadcast on 1300 kHz with a daytime power of 500 watts, nighttime power of 83 watts has now moved to 1700 kHz.

Likewise, a new transmitter and tower have been constructed, with the daytime power now at 10 kW and the nighttime power at 1 kW.

While the formal move to 1700 kHz takes place tomorrow, 7/13 , they are testing on 1700 kHz now with 3 kW power and 1 kW at night. If you're in the New England/Mid Atlantic region, maybe you'll be able to catch this station if conditions ever allow. Normally, this station broadcasts a mix of adult contemporary music, with talk programs usually in the mornings and weekends.

I wish I could see how far this station could be heard, but since I live about 10 miles from the station, it'll be strong 24/7.

Hearing it LOUD AND CLEAR here in Haddon Heights, NJ, about 110 miles south. Sounds a lot more like a SW station, seeing as how 1700 is and nice and clear, and very close to the SW bands.

Heard them here in Rhode Island the last two nights around 0300 UTC with pop music

About the same as Joe. Clear id tonight after the top of the hour at 11:00 pm. EDT

QRM from a station in Brownsville, TX. on the backside of the heading towards NYC in my area, with the Alabama preachers drifting in and out.

Presently in Lynchburg, Southern Virginia for a week so I decided to check WRCR's reception here.

In the evenings and at night the station is weak but audible on the car radio, on the Tecsun PL-660 receiver it is inaudible indoors, weaker outside in an area free of RF Interference.

Nice, clear WRCR ID heard just now (0145) after a weather report, using the dipole antenna.
Takes turns fading up with WEUP in Huntsville.

KBGG in Des Moine is stronger on the northwest pennant (my other pennant is currently down).
