Title: 394 kHz LSB CW ID TML 0130 UTC 2 Feb. 2017
Post by: Traveling Wave on February 02, 2017, 0143 UTC
0130 UTC  @ 394 kHz  CW ID. is TML repeated over and over. Can someone tell  me what it is?  Signal is very weak here in WNY.

0153 UTC @ 392 kHz   CW ID is TTT TTT  repeated over and over.  ???

0422 UTC Both CW ID's are still repeating. Signal is S1 in WNY. Are they NDB's ?

I don't see anything listed for those two freqs. on this site,   http://www.dxinfocentre.com/ndb.htm
The only thing that comes close to TML around 394 kHz is "ML" on 392 kHz, a Canadian beacon.
I pick that up here in CT. I don't know what the TTT could be.

Use USB mode. If you are using a program like FLdigi to decode CW, Canadian beacons will be on 400Hz with a
tone or "dash" between the ID letters. FLdigi will try to decode the tone, I see it comes out as a T or E
a lot of the time. That would explain the TML ID if you use a program to decode.
American beacons are on 1020Hz with no tone between ID letters.

I have no idea what TML might represent, but TTT TTT might very well be the NDB OO 391 in Oshawa, ON.  This is only a 10 watt +/- beacon, but really seems to get out well.  This should be strong in your area.

2207 UTC - I just checked 391kHz AM mode and FLdigi is decoding the CW ID as TTT which would be the Oshawa ON NDB. Oshawa ON is just north east of me across Lake Ontario.  :)

2240 UTC - 397 kHz AM mode Fldigi is decoding CW ID as ZHA, which is the Ancaster Beacon, located at the Hamilton Ontario Airport which is north west of me on Lake Ontario.  ;D
