Title: Red Mercury Labs 6925
Post by: Zoidberg on April 20, 2012, 0047 UTC
4/20/12, 6925 USB, 0045z: RML just fired up with clear ID and music (sounds like Chris Cornell vocals, not sure which band)
0058z: More Chris Cornell, "Fell On Black Days" with Soundgarden.
0103z: Says he has no web connection tonight, no way to check signal reports.  (Where's that pirate radio homing pigeon?)
0138z: Wondering if anyone's hearing him, signal still banging through with some fades, Soundgarden "Spoonman"
0156z: Sounds like he's signing off - hoping signal was heard.

Overall so far, SINPO=44333, moderate static crashes and fades.  Will upload off air recording to archives later.

1 hr 12 min mp3 here (http://ia600700.us.archive.org/5/items/CanklecatsShortwavePirateRadioCollection/Red-Mercury-Labs_Dick-Clark-tribute_Chris-Cornell-songs_6925USB_4-20-12_0045z.mp3).

Came on at 0045z with solid S8 signal.  The RV Red Mercury has no comms tonight and cannot check boards or email.
0055 Tonight's show is dedicated to Dick Clark.  More Chris Cornell.
0109 cut off on the high seas; "I feel like it's October 2, 1959" (On this date the Twilight Zone series premiered, with the
        episode "Where Is Everybody?"
0117 "Powering thru the dark...haven't seen a soul for days."
0125 "I can almost see the radiation coming off the yardarm dipole"
0133 "...I pray someone can hear us..."; sig has been getting even better as show progressed
0154 Has been summoned to the deck by Vanderdecken (Captain Hendrick, captain of the ill-fated "Flying Dutchman" ?)
0156 "If you're just joining us, the show is over", s/off

Thanks RML!

Red Mercury Labs doing fairly well on a noisy pre-summer evening, peaking S7 which is about even with the static crashes.

0103z ID and into more Soundgarden

Gotta love the Wikipedia entry on "Red Mercury", lots of strangeness...

About S6 here, thanks for the show!

Checking the SDR recording... looks like they signed on at 0045 UTC with music, then an ID and mention of the ship being taken over by pirates.

Tuned in at 0129 to RML, signal not as good as usual, but slightly above a hissy noise floor. Signal started to improve after 0136 as well.

Red Mercury Labs, 6925u, 4-20-12, SINPO 25231
Nasty QRN when I tuned in at 0155z. Did hear a clear RML ID at 0156z after
what sounded like the end of a Soundgarden song. Heard the op saying something
about "facing his fears". Just too much noise.
