Title: DSDPlus or other trunked scanner decoding software
Post by: ChrisSmolinski on July 18, 2015, 1746 UTC
Does anyone have DSDPlus or another program up and running for decoding trunked radio systems, Project 25 Phase II in particular?  I'm curious how well it is working, and how easy the setup process was.

I had great hopes of doing this in gnu radio but ran into problems getting some of the modules to work on my ancient ppc machine.  I've recently dedicated an Intel based Mac to the cause and will try again....

Thanks for the reply. Do you know of any pages that have tips / walkthroughs for doing this?  I do have two RTL dongles, although only one is an R820.

Getting Gnuradio up and going is easy via Macports...the OP25 stuff is over my head right now and trying to struggle through it.  The main OP25 site @osmocom has been down for a long time, but there's info at http://wiki.spench.net/wiki/OP25 and https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/ultra-cheap-sdr/FP5vsDXyVoE ...apparently there's been various updates and patches and it's not clear what dependencies are needed now.  I was under the impression that gr-baz included the OP25 blocks but the version on Macports doesn't....

Take a look at http://forums.radioreference.com/software-defined-radio/301459-virtualbox-project-run-op25-windows-7-a.html as well....

Duh, I should have checked directly at github:
https://github.com/balint256/gr-baz

it looks like it has an OP25 module, but even if I did get it to compile I'm not sure how to get it to work with the macports version of gnuradio I've installed.  Would be really nice to get this up and running...i don't mind using radioreference but I miss having my own receiver.
