Went out on the same day as Elvis, 41 years apart. The opening bass line from "Chain of Fools" still knocks me on my ass. Heck, the entire song does. Her cover of Otis Redding's "Respect" was nothing to sneeze at either. I could never choose between her or Etta James as my favorite female R&B/Soul singer. It's been that way since I was a kid.

RIP Aretha, and I hope Al lurking in the corner wasn't too terrifying.
