1302 Channel 2 AM OM from Italy... update I am not hearing any other real DX. I thought he said Northern Italy but perhaps I misheard.
1317 Ch 28 USB - SS OM?
1318 27650 USB - OK this is an accented EE OM, sounds like DX for sure. Now he switched to FF.
1325 27495 USB FF accented OM
1355 27455 USB SS OM, but he mentioned Italy, so perhaps in a QSO

Currently trying to work an Italian station on 27.575. Signal was booming in and has now faded to almost noise level.

I thought band conditions were going to keep getting better after hearing EU/UK earlier. Now it's all short skip within the state for me right now. Very quiet.

Seems like Sporadic-E - hearing somebody with a thick accent on channel 38LSB 27.385 MHz LSB right now at 1611 UTC. Heard mention of "the island"

And - the taxi dispatcher lady on 25695 AM 25.695 MHz AM is coming in at 1612 UTC, SIO 444 good signal (can only hear the dispatcher though, cannot hear the mobiles/taxis on frequency).
Chris, I've heard taxi dispatch traffic (Spanish language, the tell-tale YL reading taxi ID numbers/callsigns, rates/prices, telephone numbers and addresses over the air very rapidly - from my barely conversational level Spanish skills, it seems like in addition to addresses/telephone numbers, some of the taxi dispatchers read what sound like trip identifier numbers or maybe they are standardized taxi ID numbers (in other words - "the next trip is for taxi 123, trip # 901, address is this" - followed closely by "the next trip is for taxi 204, trip #902, address is that" and so on) - which is why at leas t some of these YLs reading numbers in Spanish over the air have been misidentified as drug traffickers sending coded messages to reach other, numbers stations or other users.
I've heard taxi dispatch ladies (I've heard other CBers call them "the taco lady" or "the taco taxi ladies" or similar) on CB channels 21, 24, 25 and others. I've heard the same dispatcher on 27.215 MHz [CB channel 21] several times (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy482kq75bE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy482kq75bE)). Same with one who uses 27.515 MHz AM - which is interesting because 27.515 LSB is used as a home channel by many of the 11 meter SSB operators in Jamaica and other parts of the Caribbean.
Other frequencies like 26.905 MHz (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GKzGLSNryE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GKzGLSNryE)), 26.935 MHz, 26.945 MHz, 26.955 MHz and the 5 Class C RC frequencies - channel 3A 26.995 MHz / channel 7A 27.045 MHz / channel 11A 27.095 MHz / channel 15A 27.145 MHz and channel 19A 27.195 MHz. 26.995 MHz, 27.095 MHz, 27.145 MHz and 27.195 MHz seem to be more popular over 27.045 MHz - given the proximity of 27.045 MHz to QRM city (Channel 6 - 27.025 MHz)...although 26.995 can also suffer from splatter from 27.025 AM. Apparently, use of the "A channels" for land mobile radio communications - taxi dispatch - taxi cab radio - taxi controllers, etc - see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRm3UJq8pkw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRm3UJq8pkw) is popular elsewhere (in that video - it's somebody in the UK hearing Russian taxi dispatch radio traffic on 27.045 MHz FM).
The lower bands - band A: 25.615 MHz to 26.055 MHz and band B: 26.065 MHz to 26.505 MHz are very popular (as the near daily taxi dispatcher lady heard on 25.695 MHz checks) as well as the higher portion of the 27.410 MHz to 28 MHz portion - specifically the higher portion of band E: 27.415 MHz to 27.855 MHz and the lower portions of band F: 27.865 MHz to 28.305 MHz. Since the lower areas (25.615 MHz to 26.505 MHz - see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qa86bSsKUqs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qa86bSsKUqs)) and the higher areas (above roughly 27.7 MHz or so) are usually quieter...that also makes more sense.
Of course, the fact that the dispatchers are heard on the regular legal 40 channels and on the RC channels...indicates that these land mobile users are using whichever frequency they want.

Yeah, I definitely heard some UK stations. I ended up going up to 17M. Worked a station on CW in Ohio (KB8GAE) and then HK3C in Panama USB. Gonna take a break and come back to 10/11 in a bit.

Hearing some faint voices on 27.385. Just had a nice QSO with a station in the West Indies. 5/7 both ways. He told me he had worked a station this morning in Germany and one in France running an Icom 706 100 watts into a vertical. I heard a station in France on 27.555, but it was weak.

Yes, lots of SS ops and I am hearing what sounds like a Uk station on 27610 USB.

I'm so excited. Just had a great QSO with a station in Ireland and had a small pile-up of stations that were too low to catch. Haven't worked EU on 27Mhz for years.

Update- So, after calling CQ CQ on 27.555 until I was blue in the face, I managed to work a station in Derby, England on 27.565. It's getting harder and harder to find a QSY frequency, but I'm not complaining.

Was away for a couple of hours grocery shopping. The band is not was it was this am, but there is still some DX stations coming in. I've been chasing a Portugal station, but now they're only taking west coast stations. He's had a big signal for a few hours now.

1833 after getting relatively quiet, in band activity is picking up. Lots of SS ops with calls & music. CB Fiesta time on 31 AM.

26.715 AM going absolutely nuts.
Spanish language taxi cab coming in on 25.695 MHz AM as usual. But I haven't seen/heard 26715 AM like this in a while.
Also hearing Spanish language on 27.125 USB - that's channel 14 but in USB mode. First time I've heard SSB used on CB channel 14.

Still quite busy at 1915 UTC, lots of SS ops & taxi drivers, also hearing Mud Duck from the desert SW on ch 19 AM. I've heard him for a few days now, on and off. Big signal.

I agree these are pretty awesome. Hearing European and UK stations mixing in with Latin American and Caribbean stations and Russian hospital pager transmitters all at once is pretty amazing.
