Title: Test EAMs on 7000 USB in the ham band
Post by: ChrisSmolinski on August 31, 2022, 1943 UTC
Not sure if this is an intentional frequency, but I've caught several test EAMs on 7000 USB the past few days.

Brief video here, excuse the poor production quality as I am new at streaming  :)  https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1578003329

  • In the past, I have only ever heard "MESSAGE OF" when the message exceeds the standard 30 items;

I have heard the use of the term "MESSAGE OF" for all lengths of message, long, short, and "standard".  But it is most common with longer messages.  And when it is sent with the normal length stuff it always makes me take note, sometimes thinking "must be a new op".

That was a US Navy station participating in a quarterly exercise.

US mil can and does use HAM freqs but not often due qrm as US mil are primary users for said freqs, HAMs being secondary users. I recall an instance of USAF yl operating in the 75m band receiving a lot of attention from lonely HAMs.
