Forgot about this particular broadcast which I found scanning around (was looking for RNZI at 15720 but that one is barely there). Good signal, but sounds fluttery.

Did they mention the best place to get "Happy Pizza" in Phuket?

Sadly I think I missed that part. Nothing about ping pong either.

I was friends with a Thai prince when I was younger, I would go to his place and he and his supposed "bodyguards" would whip up "happy" versions of all sorts of Thai dishes. Diplomatic immunity is a wonderful thing.
Thai princes are a dime a dozen. The King has quite a few wives and many more concubines. All of his issue are royal until the third generation. After that they go back to being well connected commoners. It beats the system in Europe, and the King is seen as a divine being. You don't want to say anything bad about the King in Thailand, It can land you in jail for a very long time or worse.

the 0000 15590/13750/13745 has long been their english to north america service but the signal sucks... way too high a frequency for time of day and they are trying to hit North America by aiming over the pole, i seem to recall when i mapped it once.
I wrote the director once, a long letter, explaining a better choice of frequencies... and i got back a.... blank QSL card

That's the polite Thai way of saying, "Get Lost", Paul. They don't like to hurt anyone's feelings.

They just don't seem to care. At least it reaches us better than KBS World on 15575 1300-1500 UTC (which is good in the summer, but they stick to this schedule year round).

It's too hot and humid in Thailand to care about much of anything. The males spend two years as Buddhist monks beginning at the age of 13. They don't sweat the mundane stuff. They'll catch up with it in the next lifetime.

Thailand, like most of S.E. Asia , get's two monsoons a year. Great for growing rice, but not much else. That two monsoon weather pattern is what made the Malay's the greatest sailors in the Indian Ocean in ancient and medieval times. Picking up spices in the islands near New Guinea and taking them to Somalia and Yemen to trade for gold, slaves, and incense.
The Greeks and Romans though their large outriggers were "rafts." The Portuguese couldn't believe the size of the Indian, Malay, and Muslim ships once they rounded the Cape of Good Hope and got into the Indian Ocean trading sphere.
