There was some discussion on the Glenn Hauser's email list, that HAARP was active around the band last week. But after going back and looking at the messages---they credit HFUnderground, and it was several days ago.

I definitely am hearing this and it's very loud and annoying all throughout the 6900 KHz range and quite possibly beyond. It sounds like helicopter rotors beating the air.

In fact, I was listening to Powerliner on 6955 KHz and this stuff showed up, killing my reception. It's about S8 on 6955 at 2208 UTC.

Chris, how long does the noise last?  There is a 400 kHz wide sounder that wacks that portion of the band from time to time that presents a pattern like that on the waterfall, but it is on for aobut 2 minutes and off for 15 or so.

T!

This was on for much longer than 2 minutes at a time. Beerus may remember better than me, but I would say at least half an hour? Maybe longer?

Seemed like it was on for at least 15 or 20 minutes.

The Helicopter noted again tonight, but in reduced signal strength and much more intermittent. On for 30-90 seconds, then off for a bit, then back on, it seems. Then changing to much longer durations of on-air. There's no clear pattern. Much lower signal strength now (in darkness) against my reception the other day (much louder, daylight) suggests a possible east coast origin.

Hearing what sounds like a helicopter (in AM) from 9301 to 9358 and is of decent strength.  Mar 13, 2013 0342Z

Was reading an overnight digest (digest #5176 from Mar 13) from the dxld Yahoo! group and there was a message:

Quote
just noticed HAARP is active again on 8630 & 9330 with 50 khz wide signals 25 khz each side of center frequencies. just sounds like a fast radar.

DH KCMO

9330 stuck out as that's what I noticed around Mar 13th @ 0342Z.  Leads me to believe that the helicopter = HAARP.

A while back, zackers posted (http://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php?topic=6326.0 (http://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php?topic=6326.0)) how to tell if HAARP was operating. He said to look for wide blocks of yellow in their spectrum waterfall chart:
http://www.haarp.alaska.edu/data/spectrum2/www/hf.html

If that's the case, then can see that in the last 36 hours, around 0300-0400Z they were operating around 9300 & this morning around 8700. Which would be consistent with what I & DH (from dxld) heard.

In looking at the chart from Mar 10th, can see a little block of yellow near 7 MHz around 21Z. But, doesn't show up around 22Z when beerus heard it.

The one I heard last night on 43M went between fast scan and slow scan.... != HAARP methinks.

Peace!
