Title: Dengê Welat, 17455 kHz, 08 APR 2023, 1840 UTC
Post by: MDK2 on April 08, 2023, 1842 UTC
Terrifically clear if not strong signal, SIO 344 via Tashkent tx. Music that can be described as traditional Middle Eastern sounding crossed with jazz (while there's vocals in the traditional style and what sounds like a viola [probably some other bowed instrument] but also bass guitar and drums). There is a series of steady, evenly spaced tones that remind me of the useless part of WINB's DRM signal, and this is covering the lower sideband and seems centered on 17450, also a listed frequency for Dengê Welat but nothing is transmitting there. I assume this is the Turkish jammer. It's 20 kHz wide so it is covering all of 17455, but the upper sideband isn't as affected.

EDIT: RX at 1850 UTC. https://youtu.be/GVgBbeI1i2w Whoops, I didn't have audio on this video. This will be taken down shortly. Thanks to Shortwave Radio Archive for catching that.

I happen to detect a signal at 17470, for which the only listing is Dengê Welat at this time (along with Turkish jammer) but if so, it has different programming (OM speaking) and is much weaker in spite of being listed as also coming from Tashkent. It's possible that the tx information is incorrect for one or both of these broadcasts, since I assume Dengê Welat always targets Kurdistan. (EDIT 1846, 17470 is now broadcasting music but it's still different from 17455.)
