Me & the dog found what appears to be a live remote broadcast of a concert (related to the recent demonstrations?) with some of the coolest music I have ever heard. Lots of Zydeco-like accordions & fiddles , reggae -like guitars & what I think was a didgeridoo. At 3:00 they did a cover of "no woman , no cry that was just sublime. This may be what RN da Amazonias does on UT Sundays for all I know but I've never noticed it before & I am always on the prowl for weird & unknown music on Shortwave. My Portuguese is.....sort of ...non-existent so I have no idea what they are on about but it sounds great from here. Also on // 6180

Suppose you wouldn't have recorded it...
It usually is a powerhouse up here, but didn't listen tonight.

No, I wish I had though. I listen to RNA quite a bit for the music& have found some very cool sounds from there. Brazil & Greece really do nice shortwave music.
-
I also listen to them for the music, especially the folk sounding music.
The Brazilian announcers all seem to have those deep, booming voices...
A lot of the time on R. Nacional Da Amazonia they take a lot of phone calls from all over Amazonia, Rondonia, etc.
I've frequently heard the announcer say to people on the other end of the phone line "Que fala?", which roughly seems to mean "what's happening?" (Actually, it's more like "what have you got to say", as 'fala' is Portuguese for 'speak' or 'talk', much like the Spanish "habla").
I don't understand much of the language, but learned Spanish in high school and college and recently got a book on Portuguese to try to decipher a bit more of what I hear on the station, as it comes in so clearly nearly every night.

I've noticed that they sometimes ID as Radio Nacional & sometimes as RN da Amazonias. Not sure what that means though.
-
Last night, I heard "Voz da Brasil" a few times.
-
I've also heard "Radio Nacional Da Brasilia", and "EBC" (usually at the top of the hour)... EBC is the company that apparently owns and runs the station.
