Title: Red Mercury Labs 6940 USB 8/4/13 0240z
Post by: Zoidberg on August 04, 2013, 0241 UTC
Just heard ID for Red Mercury Labs after rock song I didn't recognize.  Only fair via eastern SDR, will try home tuner.
0242z: Commentary on 4th Amendment
0300z: Wall of Voodoo "Mexican Radio"
0307z: Reading online logs, mentioned HFU.
0311z: CCR "Run Through the Jungle"
0315z: RML IDs, 6940 USB in the manliest of modes.  Lynyrd Skynyrd "Man a Simple Bee"
0330z: Sounded like Perry Farrell from Jane's Addiction or Porno for Pyros, not sure.
0335z: Shout out to Wm. K. Hertz and FRC, Cars "It's All I Can Do", "Moving In Stereo".  I remember seeing The Cars at their peak, around 1979-81.  They ripped into "Got A Lot On My Head" and put on a great show.  Not much spontaneity but very polished.
0354z: After Simple Minds "Don't You Forget About Me", closing comments and sign-off.

Rough copy at first, better after 0300z:
SINPO=33243 via east coast SDR - much louder summer QRN
SINPO=32333 via home receiver - much louder ute QRM

By sign-off time, signal was much clearer on my home receiver with indoor antenna than via eastern web tuner.  Still some significant propagation shifts well after dark this summer.

S-3 signal fighting the noise but still listenable here.

RML S9 here in San Antonio. Playing some Queen.

If you haven't tried a magnetic loop you should. They really null out the noise.

flipped on my bedside shortwave radio at 2:58z & RML was doing HFU shout outs. S9+10-20 with no external antenna. I'm starting to think that my next door neighbor is RML.

I need the attenuator switched on with the outdoor antenna. signal goes up to S9+40

Getting here in Missouri nice and clear. Just heard the shout outs to HFU. Sounds like CCR coming on now. This is my first time hearing Red Mercury Labs, so I felt it was a good excuse for a first post!

6940USB  Noted up here in Alberta with a strong (s4-s5) signal from 0337 tune-in with a great program. Dr. Strangelove with comments about the 80's program, pirate radio, Hollywood Bowel, Kristi Hand(?) gave a e-mail address ..something @yahoo.com ( but sort of missed that) Played a favorite form 80's by Simple minds 'Don't Fool..don't forget about Me' @ 03:48 hrs.  He also mentioned that this might be a QSL for this Show and went off the air @ 0354, then came back on and made a comment about all the reports posted, again mentioning the a 'QSL Show' gave Popular/Intensity Labs mention, and went the air @03:56 hrs.  Signal was massive but the audio was somewhat clipper on the voice but no problem on the mmusical side. otherwise a nice program and hope to heard more from RML at this hour ( propagates good to the western regions) TNX again Dr. StrangeLove!
Oh if you plan on sending out e-mail QSL's here is my address, sure would appreciate one!

SDR catch, 0233 sign on with an S8 signal. Low static levels tonight, so very good reception.
