John Hayes was the GM at WNBC. "Life is a Rock" is a 1974 song, WNBC played mainly Top 40 on its programs. It would almost seem like it was Imus' show (Imus in the Morning) if it was a criticism of Hayes. Otherwise Cousin Bruce or Wolfman Jack's show based on music.
Hmmmmm......."Pilot of the Airwaves" is 1979. Somewhat odd for WNBC to have played music in a five year gap. Wolfman Jack long gone from station by that time. Hayes is thought to have fired Howard Stern from WNBC in the 80's.

Fair signal. YL talking with what sounds like a recording warble, which makes it hard for me to understand. Now into some martial-sounding music. If I was tuning through the SWBC bands, I'd've guessed this was Radio Pyongyang.
