Suddenly, almost all KiwiSDR's now open with request to type in name or call letters.
Only very few are in the old way, not requesting any name or call.
So I think that this requirement is from a new version of the Kiwi software,
as not so many owners of KiwiSDR servers can't do the same switch on the same week.
What's going on ?

Correct, that change came in version 1.666. It is an option that is enabled by default and can be disabled in the Control section of the admin page.

New checkbox on control tab: "Require name/callsign entry when connecting".
Forces the user to enter a non-blank entry before a new connection will proceed.
Not shown again since the name/callsign is now in browser storage for this Kiwi.

A workaround for Admins who do not disable the feature is to simply enter some bogus information, click the User (cyan) button and delete that information from the "Your name or Callsign" field.
I noticed this immediately on my Kiwi when it updated to version 1.666.
All and all, v1.666 brings a lot of nice features to the UI.

This feature has been disabled by default in 1.668:

Due to community pushback, no longer enabling the new name/callsign entry panel by default.
If you want it then enable it via the checkbox on the admin control tab.

I hoped that this feature would enable the admin to block annoying bots that take up space on many receivers.
However, I encountered a function that limits the total listening time per day for the listener
(IP identification).

Even if you're not an annoying bot, as a good-faith human you can sometimes forget you have an SDR going when you get distracted, so I'm glad it cuts us off after a while. The call sign thing doesn't bother me since it already knows me well enough from the IP to start me where I left off even if I haven't been on that SDR for weeks or more.
