Title: 14.232 LSB 0300UTC 9/9/24
Post by: Claim Jumper on September 09, 2024, 0333 UTC
Beacon. Fast tok tok. Signal strength is 10 over in the Mojave Desert. Some code in there on occasion. DIS??? DIU?? I'm not that good at reading code. This one was too fast for me. Every few minutes the signal strength drops out like the antenna has changed directions. Every 15 minutes or so it shuts off completely for about 5 minutes.

Interesting. I took a look using the KFS SE kiwi SDR and it looks to be a fairly complex signal, much wider than LSB. Probably not a pirate beacon.

An old HAM friend of mine says it's slow scan television.

14230 kHz USB is the main analog SSTV for 20 meters.  It can sound like a fast tik tok depending on the image being sent.
