Hello Friend, I am glad that you have placed this entry on the First Program of Polish Radio
 - hence the ID Polskie Radio Jedynka. Out of sentiment for this leading station, I will allow myself to explain what you have recorded that is so unusual. Traditionally, for many years, at noon, the St. Mary's Hejnał is broadcast live, played on the trumpet by the firefighter on duty on the tower of St. Mary's Church in Krakow. Legend has it that during the Tatar invasion of Poland (in ancient history), a Tatar warrior hit the guard playing the hejnał in the throat with an arrow shot from a bow. Hence the melody is abruptly interrupted. The hejnał is played to the four corners of the world through the windows open to the market square and the steps of the trumpeter can be heard.
Then, from the studio in Warsaw, the call signal of the PR 1 station is played, which is the Polonaise Opus 40 No. 1 written by Fryderyk Chopin.
This ritual has been repeated every day for many years.
And in the Market Square in Krakow at noon, tourists and visitors stop to listen to this ceremony.
    Thanks to all readers!
