Title: WFDR 6925 USB 2353 UTC 24 DEC 2024
Post by: Charlie_Dont_Surf on December 24, 2024, 2355 UTC
This appears to be a different program than the previous two. Winston Churchill is visiting. SINPO 54444 on an SDR in New England.

2354 - Benediction by The Most Reverend Joseph Card.
2358 - Mentions of the war, this must be during WWII.
2358 - Mentions that this is the 19th National Christmas Tree Lighting.
2359 - Gift from the Girls Scouts Troop Number 95 in Washington, D.C., to Mrs. Roosevelt. Audio cutting out occasionally.
0001 - FDR: "And now, for the ninth time, I light the Christmas tree."
0006 - Mentions of the start of 1942 so I believe this might be from Christmas of 1941.
0009 - Winston Churchill comes to the microphone.
0011 - Mentions his ties to America. (His mother was an American.)
0015 - Carols start with "Oh Come All Ye Faithful".
0020 - "Silent Night"
0023 - Announcement by OM: "This is Double-You Eff Dee Ahrr. The real original WFDR. Merry Christmas. We might be back laytah." TX Off.
Recording of the end: https://voca.ro/1eSav0BHKW8u (https://voca.ro/1eSav0BHKW8u)
(The signal is strong enough that you can hear the background noise in the studio increase as the OM is preparing to talk.)

Strong signal at 0007, off the Maryland big-loop SDR....

yes, sounds different but with FDR speech and GREAT audio...

(This program did indeed segue into a speech by Winston Churchill, around 0011 for several minutes,
the one that he delivered to the US congress in late December 1941, I do believe, when he visited FDR here after our entrance into WW2)

((I've read about it recently, in the book "December 1941" by Craig Shirley--- I am something of a student of WW2, as well as the American civil war))

After that into Christmas carols which continue at 0019--- still with very good signal and audio.

Station ID at 0023, "This is WFDR--- the REAL WFDR.  We might be back later!"  and off.

Very nice, and Merry Christmas to all!
