Title: 4XZ 6989.97 CW 0025 UTC 30 JAN 2025
Post by: Charlie_Dont_Surf on January 30, 2025, 0041 UTC
This can't be automated CW since it is some of the most sloppy-fisted Morse I've ever encountered. This sounds like a tired human sending on a straight key. This isn't the 4XZ that I'm used to and not on their known frequencies.

Since ~0030 UTC, has been sending: "VVV VVV VVV DE 4XZ" (but at times it seems to be "4KZ", "4MZ" or "4TZ".)
Prior to that, I heard what may have been 4 or 5 character groups but it was so sloppy that I'm not sure and the automated CW readers could not follow it.

I suppose that I should have put this in the Utility section but I'm really not sure about the authenticity right now.

Heard on an SDR in New England, USA.

Hi.

4XZ is normally used by the Israel Navy but as far as I know and remember the don't use "DE" (this is).

I would guess that this was a pirate very near to the 7 MHz HAM band.....
 ??? ??? ???

Hope this helps.

That's a good point. This station was definitely sending "DE".

PRIYOM says that 4XZ does indeed use "DE". https://priyom.org/military-stations/israel/4xz (https://priyom.org/military-stations/israel/4xz)

Hi.

I don't care what PRIYOM-folks are pretending to know. But ahead of that, my bad, Ny Haifa (4XZ) definitely uses DE (THIS IS) – I verified it in the past few days. I probably confused it with another station.

My apologies.
