Title: Greece/CHU 9420 mixing together
Post by: ChrisLobdell on December 03, 2013, 0038 UTC
Anyone know why I hear CHU mixing with Greece on 9420, CHU is almost stronger than 7850 at this time 0038. This on a E1 receiver.

Do you also notice mixing products on MW reception?

Hi, no I haven't had mixing on MW.  I did hear this Greece/CHU think a couple of days ago though.  Not heard on my NRD-535, just the E1

I'm not hearing CHU with the VOG on 9420 here in north Alabama but where VOG's signal is normally a easy 20 over its just barely a S5 with lots of noise and deep fades.  Also CHU is coming in 10 over on 7850 where its normally much weaker.  Strange listening these past few days...

sometimes loose connections in your antenna can cause intermod, particularly with strong signals.  If you verified its not there with another receiver, however, the problem is in the radio.  Receivers without front end agc, like many portables, are prone to intermod.  That's the reason I asked about mw images, as the signals present at the antenna port are usually sufficient to cause problems with intermod.
