Big increase in the signal starting around 0224. Mostly S8, some peaks to S9.

Frank5000: I didn't record the show, but I believe the song at that time was "Long Promised Road" by The Beach Boys.

Last night I was surprised to find a pirate station on my portable's whip. IDs at 0204 and 0220 let me know who the biggun was. Thanks Wolverine. It was 2 overall, but listenable.

I'm quoting you only because of your "handle". This is the honest to god truth: I have an R8B & live in a single story single row appt. complex that unfortunately has an aluminum roof & an unfriendly to outside antenna landlord.
But, for some very strange reason I get pretty good reception from around 12. mhz. down with a 12' long wire along the bedroom floor attached with an alligator clip to a 6' long baseboard heater. (the louvers). Again don't ask me why it works, especially 49 & 41 metres, and 6.925 +-. And Yes I know it's a Travesty owning such a fine receiver with the lamest of the lame excuses for an antenna. :-[
Oh yeah heard wolverine too.
-
Nella F. Yeah, I've been perusing the past forum posts and a while ago after reading your setup I went and tested reception with some fence. It wasn't very good but worth the try. Its a fact that people can stumble upon new useful ways of doing things when they have little to work with. Kind of like McGuyver the TV show.
Last night I was forced to use my portable as a portable. I'm glad I did because I kind of forgot that it's built in whip was even an option. I'm fortunate to have the ability to ugly the sky with wires and I like the loop I have. It really cuts down on the fading. Its about a full wavelength at 10mHz and I get a lot of Asian stations in 9mHz.
Maybe its not your antenna but your receiver is so good that it can get by with the unconventional stuff. ;D
