Has anyone heard traffic on the following frequ.'s as per Monitoring Times Federal File column from March of 2013: 165.8375; 166.4625; 168.35; 170; 166.5875; 168.5875; 170.7875; 408.2875; 412.4375; 417.3875.
I haven't heard squat, data burst, digital or other.

My guess is your location will likely influence your likelyhood of hearing something. I would guess that anything they use will be APCO-25 with some form of encryption.

As soon as I get home I'll dig out the instructions for my Pro-94 & see if it's apco-25 capable. I don't recall in the "M. T." article that the frequ.'s listed were part of a "trunked" system. If they were I wouldn't of bothered programing them. Where I live there are no "trunked" systems so I haven't bothered to master that part of my scanner. And certainly if they are "encrypted" I doubt "M.T." would supply the frequ.'s. in the first place. Unless I'm missing something (very possible). Any other comments?

Ahhh, I just googled and found on radioreference.com that my Pro-94 can't hear apco-25. So there too.
Guess I'm out of luck.
Thanks for contributing rh.

I'm not sure if they would be trunked or not. P25 is the norm now. I worked for a TV station at one point that bought a P25 capable scanner for news purposes. All the stuff they wanted to hear was encrypted :) This is also becoming the norm for EMS, fire, and police, at least in the areas I've surveyed.
Good luck,
