I heard an ID in English around 1730 and another one later. The announcer had an accent. It had 2 syllables and sounded like it started with a vowel. Mostly it was hard to discern because of the accent. But the frequency and time fit for Radio Mara. Really relaxing music with singing and guitar. Singing sounded African.
So as I understand, this comes from a relay in Madagascar? Looking at my globe, that is on the opposite side of the world from California!

EDIT:
I listened to the links that FPE Consultant gave and it is Radio Impala and not Radio Mara. I changed the subject...to reflect.

Thanks for the links! it was Radio Impala. At the end of the transmission I heard the same as in the first Radio Impala recording. I remember the way he said "seventeen thousand five hundred and forty" for the frequency. I'll edit the subject...to reflect.
