2328 Thank you for posting the ID, Sternadio. Sorry no ISB detection. The carrier has been fading a lot, but the sidebands have been good
2333 Try various demodulators, AM-Synch, AM-Magnitude, LSB, USB. USB is still the best for me. Using 4.5 KHz bandwidth

It's Sternradio! If you listen in USB, you're hearing just the Right Channel! If you listen in just LSB you're hearing just the L channel! Okay...there is some VSB stuff going on as well that gets you some mono content too...but! Got an ISB AM Stereo detector? :)

I will have a reception report a little later, but I have an idea for those using kiwis, just use 2 computers, have one on LSB and the other on USB since the modes don't really work the way needed for proper reception. This is like the way people used to listen to stereo broadcasts when a radio station would have an AM & FM combo.

+10 and sounding great!

If you don't hear from me
when you play July Morning,
something is greatly amiss!
The QSB really adds to the Hammond. :D

You know, the QSB really adds a performative aspect to the transmissions. There is the whole matter than this modulator that does AM Stereo and all of the other fun things it does isn't a piece of art on its own!

Are you listening in ISB Stereo on that SDR? That is, if you click the SAM button until it cycles to SAS. That will get you the TRUE Sternradio experience! I transmit in ISB AM Stereo. Well. Sort of. Its compatible with it ;)

Blazing into N. Illinois tonite on the Hermes Lite 2+

I do that when reception is good enough (which is most of the time) or I just listen in AMW and crack open the bandwith legs as far as they will go.

How DOES the signal sound in AMW? I try really hard to be compatible with traditional AM envelope detectors with the ISB AM stereo stuff, so, that feedback is appreciated :)
-
Not too much different than SAS, except it's mono, not sure if the channels mix in or if it's a single channel. If I were to guess, the radio mixes it.

If I've done it right, the *radio* mixes the composite signal into a pleasing mono signal! The only truly mono aspect of the signal is the low end. :)
-
Exactly as I was estimating it should do.

Still more than an hour until LSS, but already coming in quite nicely into Masset, BC tonight. I've tuned in using SAS mode on my KiwiSDR. Thanks for the suggestion. 01:12 UTC here in Masset, BC. 73, Walt

Band conditions have been really favorable towards that part of the world from the icy shores of East Antarctica these days! Propagation is a strange beast! :D

He looks so ANGRY this evening!

Still trying to dial in my waterfall rate so he doesn't look so long in the face.
-
Great signal here with incredible bandwidth. Yet to find a way to do ISB Stereo with my SDR.

His face is properly long. That's about what I expect Mr Yuk to look like. I mean, now I'm thinking I need to do a variant of the logo where he's smiling or some shit. Fuck. Now I have more shit to do. Thanks! (For the inspiration! :D) Maybe...like make the one sideband smile instead of frown. Oh hell, that would be sexy. Shit dog. The bar is closed boys I'm an artist! :D
