Title: One DIT every 7 seconds, 7051 kHz, 0540+ UTC, 17 April 2026
Post by: BoomboxDX on April 17, 2026, 0909 UTC
Earlier this evening I was tuning the 40 Meter CW band, and heard a continuous ditter -- one Dit every 7 seconds, very consistent in placement, like clockwork, S3+ (out of 5), with some fading. As I usually tune the CW section of the 40 M band every late night, this signal is unusual, haven't heard it before. Or, if I have, it was ages ago. As for tone and quality, it was a deliberate sounding dit, not a real quick or sharp one. It was gone by 0900 UTC during a recheck.

The Dit zeroed around 7050.5 or so on my Tecsun PL-330 and XHDATA D808. Both on a second story, indoor 25 ft wire.

Has this returned anytime recently? Might be worth checking with some remote SDR’s in different locations to rule out the possibility of electronic noise from nearby devices.

Haven't heard it return, and I'd never heard it there before (or anywhere else in the SW spectrum).

Pretty sure it wasn't a nearby electronic device, as those don't usually propagate or fade. But checking SDR's is probably a good idea next time I hear this, if I do.
