Starting off with those North Carolina boys! They were absolutely brilliant in Harrisonburg, Virginia when I saw them recently...with about 170 of my closest friends...Conan opened for them. Those guys blew my mind.

Not long after they entered the studio, Dave "Dixie" Collins accidentally shot himself in the foot, blasting off one of his big toes while he was cleaning a shotgun. The band postponed their recording session with Albini."

After over a year of literally crippling injuries to all three of WEEDEATER's members hitting the headlines, including infamous classics like "Dixie Dave blew off part of his foot with a shotgun," or "Keko tore his meniscus this week," and "Shep broke his goddamn pinkie on tour" or even "Dixie nearly died in his ninja-scuba assassin Halloween costume" and more, ...
Sounds like a fun, albeit hazardous, group to hang with! Make sure your insurance premiums are paid up so your next of kin won't be left out in the cold.

And they're good humans. When I fainted at that most recent gig from being sick with *, drummer checked in on me and asked if I was okay. I had EMTs roll up and shit too. And after the gig he was all you made it! They're good peeps!

QSY to 6920...
-
I caught a little over 2 hours from on 0240 UT. Reception was pretty naff, which is normal at my QTH, but did rise above the noise enough to hear Gary Numan/ Tubeway Army with Down in the park and.....The Wheels on the Bus !!!!????
The QSYs started at 0420 or so
2 hour 2 minute aircheck and as I say reception wasn't great at times, so if you go to the link, you'll want to jump around
20260514_0240_UT_6935_khz_North_America_Sternradio.mp4 (https://player.mediadelivery.net/play/502138/8512bead-43ba-4105-8e65-378f4e72bb6f)
The signal on 6938 is experimental station WO2XPY
As per stuff at UDXF:
RCA Telecom has added a third transmission site to WO2XPY in West Chicago. It comprises a 10 kW amplifier, three Yagi antennas including this one, plus this log-periodic array.
“Grant of this application will serve the public interest because it will allow RCA to determine maximum efficient use of HF spectrum as it works toward developing a system for commercial use,” the company told the FCC.
(FCC rules do not permit commercial shortwave data transmission to foreign points. The Commission is still chewing on a Shortwave Modernization Coalition petition to allocate some HF frequencies to this purpose. See ERN #9.)
WO2XPY is authorized to use 14 bands between 6 and 29 MHz. Running more than 246 kW ERP in 14.35‒14.99 MHz – just above the 20-meter Amateur Radio band – it is “not capable of transmitting station identification,” RCA told the FCC. The Commission waived the station ID rule, as it typically does on request.
In a recent change, they HAVE been sending out an ID in CW at the start of transmission
