Title: UNID 6985 USB/LSB Jammer? 0025 UTC 10 JUN 2026
Post by: QSLCollector on June 10, 2026, 0028 UTC
I heard it via W3HFU Westminster, MD, USA for maybe 10 - 30 secs.

Can be heard very well on USB or LSB, but it sounds like a Russian Woodpecker on AM. It sounded like a jammer against the Peskies on the nearby band.

Hi.

To me it sounds you are around 1 kHz misstuned. It sounds to me like a longer lasting ALE transmission. Probably this could be U.S. Army and/or Army National Guard as there have been som logs on 6985,0 kHz in the past.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and that makes sense. I noticed that I do have a hard time on tuning on the Kiwi SDR.

I just listened to the sound clip, and it sounds like a FAX or other utility service. No idea what the mode is.

The other poster is probably correct, some sort of military transmission. I don't know what ALE sounds like, but he's probably spot on about it.

This spectrum is used by military. I keep hearing a STANAG, or STANAG-like transmission on 6844, not too far from an irregular, and periodic HFT transmission on 6838.

There is a lot of odd stuff to be heard between 6800-7000 kHz.
