Title: KRE's nasty transmitter hum.
Post by: atrainradio on August 11, 2014, 2141 UTC
Been listening to the DPRK's service on 15245 via twente regularly now. I noticed that their dear leader just can't seem to fix the transmitter hum that is just messing up the broadcasts.

Nah, it is glorious and highly desirable hum.  ;)

They've had that for some time.

But compared to R Cairo, its working great.  R Cairo is unintelligible today.

R Belarus has some tones on it, making it difficult to listen to.

To my ears it sounds remarkably similar to the jamming signal they use for the various South Korean stations. I used to hear various language services bleeding through and mixing with each other/ Listening now to DPRK English on 15180 and the hum isn't as noticeable as on Twente.

Its not really a hum, but it does sound like what a jammer would do (although I don't think its a jammer, but a bad feed or something). I hear the same thing on several of their frequencies.

Was listening to them today on Twente's SDR. The program came on & was strong. With about a 1/4 - 1/2 second delay, could hear the same thing, but much, much weaker (usually could only hear the delayed piece if there was a break in the first one's audio).
