Sounds like wailing and nonsense. About an S9+20 here!
-
S9+10, sounds the same in USB and LSB
-
It is about a S9 here and sounds the same on either USB or LSB with the weird noises. ???
-
no idea what the hell it is. Maybe the start of a new show? Sounds like something RFW would do. Dickweed?.....
-
Same here at 0056 UTC with strange Sci-Fi noises on USB, but all I get on LSB is crackling noise.
Took me awhile to figure it out, but the USB component is on 6945 and the LSB component is on about 6948? Wierd.....
-
Quite strong here as well. UTE? I think I heard this same sound on 6945 the other evening.
-
What is a UTE again?
-
Comparing both frequencies at the same time on two radios could be stereo, very odd. Also seem to have the same signal strength.
-
Steady S9 here in AL. Never heard this before.
-
The signal is better on 6.945.2 USB. Got it 55555 and no noise tonight. It's Halloween spooky music. Seemingly endless too. I'm trying out a new Ameco PT-3 preamp, but I don't need it for this.

01:57 - Just tuned in... Space / science fiction type music S9 signal.. Interesting, but doesn't make a lot of sense though...
-
I've heard this before. It's spooky background music looping, mostly an organ with lots of vibrato, or reverb fading in and out. Kinda part of the pirate radio bands I guess.
-
I hear it pretty good. It sounds like undulating old computer sound effects.
-
I didn't see the part about the organ. Could it be a leslie sound effect? I had an organ with that effect.
-
This signal went off-air at 0245 UTC. It might have been the oddity station known as XM / Whales / Backwards Music. However normally this station does not have such well defined audio edges. The signal was 2.8 kHz wide, with a sharp bottom edge at 300 Hz (assuming 6945 kHz as tuned frequency), this is pretty typical of communications SSB transmitters. So it could have been someone wanting to sound like XM.
Tentatively, and because 6945 kHz USB is a known US Navy / USCG frequency and XM is suspected of sometimes being US Navy in origin, I would say probably XM or related phenomena.
T!

Very strong well-modulated signal at my location. Reminded me of an extended (theremin) soundtrack from "Forbidden Planet." I assumed it was US government because utility activity heard before on this frequency. Rather odd situation/activity.

(late post) : 0215gmt., 6.945usb. signal fair to good, no fade, listening for 15 minutes now...calling it 'new-age minimalism' ::) , atmos. static competing...

Late SDR Recording Catch
SINPO: 44434 - strong signal
0044 - S/On - What sounds like background planet music from the movie "Forbidden Planet"
that is being looped...
0244 - S/Off
No ID

Just an update:0118+ 2014.08.16 7076 USB & 7078 LSB
Hearing the same type of signal tonight but on different frequencies.
-
Exactly what I got. I measured a 3.2 kHz wide signal. The Forbidden Planet movie is about right. I've heard the same music effects at spook houses.
