I was lucky to be invited at Parliament Hill
My feelings drifted from gloom to thrill
What was I going to wear on that ballroom dance
On which everyone was eager to get his chance
A Member of Parliament took the time to invite
Me to a dance dressed the fanciest that night
I made a polite hand gesture of rejection
That caused her melancholy and dejection
