He won't be laughing the first time he washes his hands after that.  Been there, RF burns are nasty, even through gloves.  MW somewhere around 5-50KW I would guess.  A lot of the old soviet block stuff was overbuilt from whatever was handy.  Just because they used 500KW insulators, doesn't mean there is 500KW of RF there.

We should send Fansome over to the Okeechobee towers with a cameraman to show that kid how a real man handles the insulator on a live 500 kW antenna array. Al don't need no gloves.
