Tuned in to "Baba O'Reilly"-Who at 1618 UTC with a fair to good signal here
1622 UTC Man announcer with talk but I'll have to listen back on the recording to get ID, followed by UNID Rock tune
1625 Man announcer mentioning he'll be closing down..."one more song", followed by "Eyes Without A Face"-Billy Idol
(1626 UTC Man announcer talkover during song)
Pretty good signal here with some slow deep fades!
1633 UTC "Happy Organ"-Dave "Baby" Cortez ;D***
(Man announcer talkover during song..."Hello Skipmuck, Hello Chris...I'm closing down..Black Arrow....goodbye")
1643 UTC I guess I left the radio too soon....I'm hearing Led Zeppelin -Black Dog now! Signal strength is much weaker...maybe beaming towards somewhere else? Or reduced power?
1645 UTC "Immigrant Song"-Led Zeppelin
(Listened back on recording and only a short bit of Black Dog segued into Immigrant Song)
1647 UTC Man announcer but nada on the copy, then UNID rock tune. Signal lost around 1648 UTC, maybe OFF?

This song sounded so familiar on an earlier Black Arrow broadcast. I remember the song when I was a young kid, maybe 5 years old or so. It was played on the radio back then and thereafter on the oldies stations. I was mistaken when I thought it might have been Chris Montez, and mistaken again when I said it was Dave "Baby" Cortez. But it was the song I heard when I was a little kid! The song you are playing was released in 1981 in the Netherlands. This is an old folk song that goes back to the late 1800's and has been covered by a great many artists over the years. In 1959, an instrumental group by the name of Johnny and the Hurricanes released a version by the name of "Red River Rock". It was a Top 40 hit and is the song I remember as a kid! I was born in 1955. Amazingly, the original vinyl from 1959 and the Fly Away version look remarkably similar, as is the way the version itself was played! There is a whole Wikipedia article on this song and is interesting reading.
