It's quite difficult to hear Papua New Guinea these days now that nearly all their shortwave transmitters have closed and moved to FM.
BUT....In the last day or so, PNG's National Broadcasting Corporation has been transmitting on shortwave with two new outlets. NBC is the host broadcaster of the 15th Pacific Games, being held in the capital Port Moresby. The games begins tomorrow July 4 and runs through till July 18. This afternoon, I noted the following schedule from on-air announcements as follows:
6075 kHz - 1900 to 2159 UTC
9860 kHz - 2200 to 0959 UTC
6075 kHz - 1000 to 1400 UTC
12025 kHz - 2200 to 1000 UTC (to Pacific Island communities)
Here at Mount Evelyn, 9860 is heard quite well during the afternoon, and 6075 was noted last night. As yet, I have not found a signal on 12025 kHz, but this frequency may come into use once the Games begin. The station is announcing itself as both NBC and "The Voice of Papua New Guinea".
I have put up a recording of the frequency announcement on the Mount Evelyn blog. The link is:

I haven't been able to work out the transmitter site. It's possibly unlikely to be from PNG itself as they really don't have the infrastructure (unless something has changed recently!!). Perhaps Broadcast Australia (the company that looks after RA's transmitters) is making their facilities available? Pure speculation at the moment.
If you haven't got PNG verified, then here's a chance. It would be interesting to see how well the signal reaches to the US. Please let me know - I'd be most interested!
Cheers....and have a great July 4!

Thanks! I'll definitely be checking the airwaves regularly here in New York to see if I can pick up anything.

PNG UPDATE:
The shortwave services for the Pacific Games are relayed via satellite from the PNG studios in Port Moresby to Australia and transmitted via the Brandon, Queensland site. 6075 and 9860 kHz is for PNG (especially remote regions of the country) and Australia, while 12025 kHz is for the Pacific Island nations participating in the Games. Power output is 20 kW. (Updated 1850 UTC July 3)

Tried for 12025kHz tonight, hoping for PNG. Got Iran in Spanish with surprising strength, but no sign of the Pacific. Alas.

Huge S - 9+ signal into North Carolina at 0800z on July 4 on 9860 kHz, for the opening ceremonies. RKI is on that freq until 0800, but as soon as they sign out, PNG sounds like a local.

Fantastic, Nick59! Well done! Great to see the signal into Nth Carolina.

The best signal in Kiev is on 12025 kHz from 2200 till 2300 UTC. The SINPO is up to 44433-45433.

07/09/15, 12025 kHz, S6-S7 for the most part of the broadcast.
SINPO 34333
Fading and low audio level made it not a easy copy. Switch several times to USB to get better audio.
0911 UTC, Pop Music
0926 UTC, NBC - ID
0953 UTC, NBC - ID by YL
1002 UTC, sign off
It's defently worth to observe this frequency in the early morning hours in the USA.
