Title: I don't want to brag...

But, there's a lot of talk about the resemblance between me and Peyton Manning. I've heard that he is very flattered.

I'm a millionaire rock-star astronaut geneticist with Robert Redford looks and an 80-pound Johnson...

Unfortunately the trading cards which featured me are now impossible to find.

80 pound Johnson?  You might want to see your doctor...or a pretty nurse.

Yeah they made one hell of a boat motor.  J P must really like his fishing...   ;D

Dad actually has one of those, a 5 and 1/2 h.p. Johnson "Seahorse" outboard.  He picked it up in the mid-70s.  Still runs good, but hasn't seen much use the last few years.

Ah! The gold standard of propulsion for all proper jonboats in my youth. Then came trolling motors and the return of oars, because some nimrod was always going to forget to recharge the battery.

Ha! My dad, who grew up in the midwest, also had one of those. He built a wooden stand that it clamped onto, and that's where it stayed most of the time. Once a year he got hold of a big barrel, filled it with water, and put the motor into it. He'd start it up and let it run for a half-hour or so just to make sure it still worked.

We took it out to Puddingstone Reservoir, in SoCal, once or twice a year, usually on the coldest day of the year. We would rent a boat from the pier, and head out on the lake. Despite the subfreezing temperatures, my skills as a master fisherman usually resulted in a nice string of fish.

Eventually my mom decided that the motor was not earning its keep, and forced him to sell it. Women...
