Title: UNID 2860 AM 1115 UTC 4 Nov 2015
Post by: ChrisSmolinski on November 04, 2015, 1144 UTC
Noticed this while looking for KCBS Korea on 2850. Music and what sounded like a SS OM. Fairly weak, and faded out around 1130. I can't find anything listed on 2860, so I wonder if this was a MW harmonic?

Back on again this morning, sign on or fade in was 1100z.
Actual frequency is 2859.82 Khz.

My money would be on a Central/South American MW station harmonic, Radio San Carlos in Costa Rica signs on at 1100 (1430 KHz).

I set the SDR up to record this morning. The carrier came up at 1043z, with audio a few minutes later. Not as strong as the first day I heard this station, unfortunately. Nothing that sounded like an obvious ID at sign on. I found Radio San Carlos's website with streaming audio for a comparison, but by then it was too weak here to get much audio at all. I'll have to try again. FWIW, it sounded like there was a fair bit of hum in the audio.
