Located some where in the south west desert country...
solar only no battery.
Freq. 26.600Mc
Now it transmits approximately 2 dashes per minute, with each dash lasting 13 seconds.
-
That makes my original QRSS-3 beacon look like 80 WPM ;)
Look forward to some more sunspots.
Peace!

I dont have a clue of who is connected with this beacon...
these e mails come rolling across my desk...
but the source is reliable...we operate on a need to know
and I dont need to know ::)
I did listen most of the day to that freq...and NO JOY...
it will pop up during sporadic E season thats for sure...

The lower part of the CB band is open tonight
the 26.600 beacon might be heard if we listen...
-
10 and 11m is wide open between me and So. Cal tonight. I am monitoring 26.600 and hearing nada.
-
A recent e mail indicates that what I heard was not this beacon.
-
26600 is currently solar only. The circuit and panel are currently supported by the dipole, so the frequency can get a little wobbly in the mornings and afternoons when the sun is low in the sky and the wind is blowing.
Sometime in the future, it will be 24 hour.

are there any pics of the 26.600 beacon? how big is the solar panel....thanks...jr

Taken before initial deployment. Dipole is coiled up.

The pink antenna improves propagation by 15% or your money back.

Thanks for the pic.............did you happen to take one of the transmitter board?....jr

Aye. I did but that is confidential information. :p
