Title: WW contest continues into DX contest also
Post by: beaconman on February 04, 2010, 0149 UTC
Since WW 4078.25 is the weakest of the 4 MC
Phfers. So lets see who can truly copy it with some proof.
It takes a listener with a good antenna and receiver....
Wave files would be proof would they not?

Ok lets tighten up those filters and tweak the tuners...

TOKEN won the first to hear the beacon

NOW

Lets continue this contest  with the Listener who is farthermost
away from the Beacon...

Contest will run until Saturday the 13th

TUBE SHORTWAVE wins the DX part of the competition

Only from people who have radios hooked up to their computers or other digital recording device.  I know it's hard to believe in 2010, but I actually use a radio radio (has real knobs and buttons) and not a black box wired to a PC.
Can I mail in a postcard?  :D  I feel like a Luddite.

don't feel bad... the rcvr used for my screen captures is an old
kenwood ts140s . I just pump the audio into the soundcard and ARGO does the rest. Its mt PSK31 setup in real life.

OK, I know you said WAV, but I did this before I saw your post ;)  Today is the first time in a few days I have checked the forum.

As you can see from this picture WW was stronger than MO, and almost as strong as TMP.  The audio was plenty strong, I pretty much had it on all my radios, from the Hallicrafters SX-28A to the Perseus.

I will check tonight and grab a WAV if it is in there.

EDIT:  OK, added an audio file that I recorded tonight, not last night when the above image was taken.  URL is here http://home.mchsi.com/~token_radio/WW_beacon_4078_02062010_0155z.mp3

Is it really the weakest or is the nightime only "O" beacon on 4103.8 even more seldom reported?

DOH!  And here I am on travel, will not be able to try for the distance portion of the contest until the morning of the last day of the contest.  I probably am not going to do much in this part.

Copied WW in California.  Audio file sent via email to Beaconman.  SUPER weak, but was able to ID with Argo.
