There have been some really strange noises here first noticed at 0039 UTC. The first sounded like an oddball sounding SSTV or slow FAX xmsn. This was followed by other unusual data xmsn sounding noises.
0102 UTC Now it sounds like RTTY!
0124 UTC Still going with what sounds like a cricket in sustained mode ???

It is a fairly wideband signal, I have seen it before elsewhere on 43 meters. Here's an SDR waterfall image from last night:

Thanks Chris! I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking at here....severely waterfall challenged! When I first heard this mystery noise, I was listening on 6920LSB. It sounded the same on 6917 USB, but much clearer. Others heard it in the chat room and suggested it sounded like a FAX xmsn only much slower. The sound varied during the time I was listening. Was this screen shot from the time period mentioned in my posting? The waterfall boundary on the right seems to be minus a few kilohertz from 6917. I have a cassette recording of it (yes...I'm still digitally challenged here also!) When I finally get patched into my good PC, I'll see if I can digitize the tape and send a sample...strangest noise I've heard yet on 43 meters.

The signal seems to extend from around 6890 to 6920, perhaps a little more. So i suspect it is what you were hearing... whatever it was ;D

OK, thanks Chris! Not sure what I heard, but I have it recorded, so I'm certain it's not the voices again :o
