If they can't get the funds, they too will need to call it quits.

It always gets down to this eventually, atrain...

Commercial SW doesn't work. The numbers never add up, the market is way too small.
-
It's my dream to set up an international network of SW transmitters to cover the globe in good kick ass music and news. I would call it "Radio Free Thinker International".
I would literally cut off my legs to make it work.

Oh no! I love this station. *crosses two hands' worth of fingers*

Eric (owner KBC) = also the firm "K-PO" in the Netherlands

Hope he will get it all work out!
As "old pirate" he has done a great job!

This is precisely why I am so amazed at what Allan Weiner and his crew have managed to pull off at WBCQ. Damn near impossible to keep a "free" shortwave outlet running and they've done it for nearly 20 years. Maybe Eric could also find a way for a Bible thumper to pay the freight...
-
Brother Stair in multiple languages? Sheesh!
I wonder how things are going down at the Walterboro Motel and Commune?
-
KBC ought to change relay sites, they should stop wasting money with Media Broadcast and utilize WRMI, WBCQ or WTWW for their North American service.
That should save them quite a bit of money right there.
-
Yup. When they started rates were at 275 bucks an hour on the transmitter they were using. WBCQ is what, 50 bucks an hour?
-
Somehow I can't see Eric throwing in with some huckster Bible thumper just to pay the freight. Therein lies one fundamental (pun totally intended) difference between KBC and BCQ. My feelings on both stations, and my great flipping bias, are all fairly well-known by now, I imagine.

I agree with your concerns Chanter but there is a second fundamental difference between the two. KBC is hemorrhaging money and is nearly off the air. Sometimes you gotta swallow hard for the greater good. KBC is a class act and I'd hate to see it disappear. Maybe there's another way to solve their money problems but I don't see it.
