Can you hear this beacon, 10.133 MHz?

Chris set this part of the forum up
for Phfer beacons not ham beacons...
so lets keep it that way.
I have let the hifers because of their MW nature to be encluded
and the Russian cluster beacons which happen to be located around some of the Phfers.
Maybe I will just resign from the position of being the forums
policeman LOL...and the world will be a better place.

On a somewhat related note, however: the "Michigan Mighty Mite" transmitter design - as shown for the 3.5425 and 10.133 MHz beacons - is the basis of the SC Dasher PHFer beacon. The only changes required are the crystal and number of turns on the coil. Some guesswork got the first test unit transmitting into a dummy load, and subsequent work with the supplied turns-vs-frequency tables yielded a set of more accurate charts. It's a simple little transmitter, but it apparently gets out.

2010-01-11, 10133 kHz by ZL2FT-Jason, 17680 km!
Thatīs not bad for this litle tx.

...but still not appropriate for this forum.

Why not create a fourm for 'legal beacon' spots? Seems like most of the SWL's and spooks that listen for PHFers also listen for 'legal' beacons too.

I asked about the possibility for NDB's a while back. I think Beaconman's reply applies to your request too:

What is the point of your beacon,
to reach as far as possible with minimal power
or that the broadcast must be illegal?
-
Please see the charter for this forum. It's not my forum, I'm just respecting the direction set by the moderator. Perhaps you could too?
-
Life is to short and really to much fun
to worry about this stuff. Qrp...I understand your point of view
so go ahead and post anything you desire....
Beacons are just fun to listen to....no Matter what type
Now if there is someone else who would like to moderate
this forum just tell Chris that I said you you can have the job.

Beaconman , I completely agree with your thinking beacon should be fun whether it is legal or not and it is more fun the longer you reach with less power.

I disagree ! Anyone who can memorize the answers to a multiple choice exam can get a HAM license (I know because I have one) and then set up a beacon transmitter in their house feeding an antenna mounted on a tower. Where's the accomplishment in that? Less fun :)
Now someone who hikes out in the boonies and puts :) up a beacon running on solar/battery power feeding an antenna mounted in less than optimum conditions and be heard across the country - that shows me something! More fun :)

Yes, that is fun in the sun!

Yep, I just read that. I certainyl see the point. I also see beaconman's new point about life being too short.
I just love beacons, all beacons. Bbeacons fascinate the heck out of me. I have several on the air, and it never seems like enough. I like listening to beacons. I like building beacons. I like installing beacons. I like fixing beacons. I like looking at beacons. I like designing beacons. I like talking about beacons. I like anyone who likes beacons the way I like beacons.
So, as far as I care, any beacon is worth talking about. I admit, pirate beacons are a little bit cooler than most others.

Bon mots, L Cee. I would go further to point out that this forum is the HF UNDERGROUND. Not "above ground" or "above board"; certainly an implication that its purpose is the reporting of illicit activity.
Legal beaconeers already have plenty of ham websites where they can log their legal activity. Posting reports of legal beacons here is about as appropriate as posting reception reports of legal MW broadcast stations in a pirate radio forum. In other words, not appropriate at all.
-
Yup...kinda like posting BBC receptions in the pirate section.

it is your smartest post so far in this topic ::)

Is it more important to you that a beacon is illegal and broadcasting on an illegal frequency than to be able to see how far you can reach with minimum power and a simple technique?
