Tried to log in today and got a page for "Network Solutions". Any one else having problems with this.
-
"frn.net expired on 03/09/2010 and is pending renewal or deletion."
Top right of the page. Hopefully frn buys their domain back :-\
-
wtf is that , i hope the logs and stuff will be not gone !!
-
Nah, it's a domain issue. Domains just point to the server that the website is on, so it should all be fine.
-
Funny, I got that message once, then was able to get to the site a few minutes later.
Now its off again.
-
I am pretty sure the same thing happened last year. A few days later it was back to normal (guess someone paid the bill).
Cheers, Terry

It's that pesky Boston FCC office!

This happens just about every time the domain expires. I'm not sure who actually pays for the name, but it has always come back. Then, Commander Bunny will claim that he shut it down, and threaten to do it again if people don't toe his line.
My understanding is that John Cruzan, one of the founders, "owns" the site, and it is hosted on someone else's physical facility. John hasn't been active on the FRN for years, so perhaps one of the current ops, such as cosmikdebris or L Cee, will step up and pay the fee. Cruzan used to ask for contributions to run the site, but maybe the advertising takes care of that these days.
-
If Cruzan does own the domain, he would have to transfer it to someone before they could pay on it... and you can't transfer it while its expired.
-
I hope Chris is prepared for the refugee influx.
Peace!

Same thing happened in 2008 and 2009, the site was back up within a couple of days after someone took care of the admin chores to renew the domain.
-
FRN is back up today, and as predicted:
Commander Bunny will claim that he shut it down, and threaten to do it again if people don't toe his line.
Buy the shirts or else
Thanks to FRN going down; I found this site!

Still down at my location, but it always seems to take longer to come back up here, for some reason.

If it's still not up for you, give it about 24 hours. Some ISP's don't update their DNS cache for a while (like mine)
